This was our first unroasted bar and it has remained as vibrant and pure as its first batch back in 2016. Delicate notes of roses, vanilla and red berries have helped this bar to conquer thousands of palates worldwide.

  • Made with only 2 ingredients: high quality and totally traced unroasted cacao beans and unrefined cane sugar. We profoundly believe the chocolate industry does not need to add extra cocoa butter to hide off flavors derived from poor traceability or post-harvest control.
  • The finest genetics: the trees that produce the beans used in this chocolate are all creole hybrids, the finest genetics which grow in isolated areas affected by war in Colombia. Less than 2% of the cacao tree population in the world comes from this variety.

Very Happy

I use Juan Choconat to make homemade dark hot chocolate and it is perfect. The chocolate melts perfectly in warm milk and tastes great. Plus only two ingredients! Definitely my favourite dark chocolate on the market.

I love chocolate and am an unashamed chocoholic. As you can imagine I have tried every type and style of chocolate imaginable, but, never anything as good as this. I thoroughly recommend you get your taste buds around this chocolate as soon as you can.

Great tasting hi coco choc in the UK

Wanting something different that tastes great, I had a little bit of time to wait for our chocs as they were been imported from Colombia but we'll worth the wait. The price was a little more than expected but the taste and quality are fantastic... I've been very pleased.
At first due to the shipping problems I was suspicious and suspected a scam but the chocolates eventually came.

I ordered 2 of these bars to try what "unroasted" tastes like. I am a consumer of raw dark chocolates and this bar really impressed me. First of all, it is drier as it does not contain added cocoa butter, which is healthier. I will recognize added cocoa butter in other bars more easily after trying this pure one. Second, the quality of the cocoa beans speaks for itself. A lot of flavors we are not used to in the UK in commercial bars or even in premium ones. It impressed me because all of these experienced flavors come from the cocoa beans naturally. I will order the other unroasted bars because I really liked this one.

WE BUY CACAO IN THEIR FARMS' ENTRANCE

The logistic cost in rural Colombia is extremely high. Our farmers live in mountains far away from the towns through hardly accesible roads. This is one of the reasons why intermediaries exist.We come to each of our farmers farm and pick up the cacao as a fruit, assuming the logistic costs.

WE START MAKING OUR CHOCOLATES FROM THE POST-HARVEST PROCESS

Ever wonder why cocoa butter is added to a chocolate bar when the cocoa bean alone naturally contains 50%-60% of cocoa butter?It is added to hide off-flavors from poor post-harvest (or lack of relationship with farmers) like bitterness, astringency and acidity.We do not need to do this as we control the fermentation and drying of all the beans in our bars.

WE EMBRACE THE CACAO BEAN TO MAKE THE HEALTHIEST PRODUCTS

We believe that respecting the cacao bean starts with recipes free of extra cocoa butter and where the only % of cocoa content comes from the bean, which is naturally full of antioxidants and other healthy compounds. Our recipes use other healthy and specialty ingredients but start from the concept that to make premium chocolates you have got to work on producing top quality beans.
